As you can see the original toilet was in a very back to basics and worn out condition so we had the contractor rip everything out.

To fit in with the modern theme of the house, we chose a black and stainless steel combination for our master bathroom. We opted for rectangular shaped floor to ceiling wall tiles as the usual squared tiles are quite passe. Wider tiles pluS a glossy texture also give an impresssion of breadth to make the toilet appear bigger. The black glossy tiles, we sourced from Hafary at Balestier at $2.60 per sq feet. To provide some fun contrast against the black wall tiles, our ID laid 18 pieces of SD004 Glass mosiac strips (Below) as feature pieces in the shower area.

Stainless steel water pipes linking mixer to storage water heater. Note the gloosy black wall tiles.

We opted for a more adventurous approach by having the ceiling and the standard HDB drainage/sewage pipes painted black.
Like most toilets, the flooring is laid slightly inclined to let the water drain more efficiently. To demarcate the shower area from the wash closet area, we had a tiled skirting put up. Our ID customised a new drainage outlet to allow the water from the shower area to drain into the main drainage situated at the wash closet area. The skirting also serves as a base for the tempered glass shower screen put up to ensure a dry water closet area. We selected a non-slip dark greyish homogenous flooring at $3.00 per sq feet. We ask for the installation of stainless steel water pipes which although supposedly less hardy than copper pipes adds a more aesthetic ,shiny and industrial look to the toilet. As we use a storage water heater, there is extensive piping in the toilet and thus a more aesthetic looking pipe is important since it can't be covered up.
For the accessories, we bought a Hangrohe All Rounder Set Raindance coupled with a Hangrohe Axor starck Uno 2 Shower mixer. The Raindance is quite a joy as it provides a good water massage after a hard day of work.
Swirl spray function of Raindance shower gives a good back massage

Do state that you require external piping model when you purchase the showers and mixers from Hansgrohe for those in HDB flats as unlike condos, our HDB pipes are external and the mounting is different. (Below) You can see the special clamp mountings ( 2 round chrome pieces behind mixer) required for the Axor mixer.

We bought the toilet bowl(Below) from Living Phenomenon at Balestier for $370 due to it's more comptemporary shape with a broad and low water tank.It comes with a slow closing seat and cover Do check with your contractor on the WC drain dimensions which will affect the size and suitable type of toilet bowls(old HDB flats are usually 6 inch type ) you can purchase.

What we liked about Living Phenomenon was their prompt after sales service. Do check for any leakages and test the flush after instllation as there may be some teething problems which can usually be resolved by your plumber or the sanitary ware shop where you purchased your toilet bowl.

Very minimalist and comtemporary - INDA Hotellier Dual Toilet Roll Holder Robe Hook. We like the swivelling feature so that access to clothes, towel is much easier.

Other accessories we bought were a swivelling 3 piece robe hook($43) for hanging your clothes and towel in the bath area from Living Phenomenon and a Ferrera Asiapac sourced Inda hotellier dual toilet roll holder at $68. 2 pieces of Inda toiletries corner trays were also installed to house our toiletries. Such items can also be supplied at a very much cheaper cost by your contractor but for us, we were quite particular about the look and quality of our toilet fittings so it is really up to the individual choice and budget priorities.
INDA corner toiletries tray - we like the sleek and minimalist look plus water drains away quickly due to the grate like design

We installed a KDK Ventilator Fan unit to ensure good ventilation and removal of odurs and mould build up in the toilet as ventilation is not too good in older HDB flats. Look at our older postings for more details on the ventilator fan if interested. We asked the fan installer to customise an arcylic frosted piece to provide a mounting for the fan and provide privacy(see below).

The original wooden toilet door was removed and replaced with a frosted tempered glass door with chrome pull handles. ( Below)
We also took out the original sink in the master toilet to free up space there and installed a new vanity sink and tabletop in the walk-in wardrobe area located outside the master bathroom which will be covered in a later posting.
